Automotive & Off-Road

Automotive 3D scanning for custom builds, restomods and off-road parts

Building a custom truck, restoring a classic and developing a bumper for a popular platform all start with the same problem: getting the vehicle's real geometry into CAD. We scan bodies, frames, engine bays and interiors, then design swaps, chassis, dashes and aftermarket parts around them. Drop the vehicle off in Reno or we'll come to your shop.

The problem

What slows teams down

  • No usable factory data

Classic bodies and frames vary from vehicle to vehicle after decades of use and repair, and factory drawings are rarely available to builders.

  • Modern parts in old vehicles

Engine swaps, axle swaps and modern suspension have to fit sheet metal and frames that were never designed for them.

  • Products that must fit every truck

An aftermarket bumper or slider has to bolt to factory mounting points on every customer vehicle. Prototypes built from hand measurements burn time and steel.

  • Vehicles tie up shop space

A customer car on the lift while parts are designed is a bay you can't use. Scan it once and the design work moves to a desk.

Applications

How automotive & off-road teams use our scans

  • Custom chassis under a classic body

We scanned a 1967–72 Chevy C10 body and designed a custom mid-engine chassis under it, packaging the engine, suspension and wheels against the real cab and bed.

  • Axle swaps and suspension kits

A first-generation Tacoma frame and body were scanned, then a solid front axle and rear 4-link were designed around them.

  • Restomod interiors

A custom dash and center console were modeled inside a scanned vintage 4x4 cab, with the gauges, console and seat laid out around the real floor and firewall.

  • Aftermarket product development

Bumpers, sliders, mounts and spare-tire carriers designed against scans of the target vehicle, including winch bumpers, tube bumpers and bed-mounted carriers.

  • Classic restoration parts

Reproduce trim, brackets and small panels from a surviving original, or scan the body to check panel alignment after repair.

  • Ready-made vehicle scans

If the vehicle you're designing for is already in the 3D scan library on revv-engineering.com, you can buy a ready-made scan and start designing right away.

Why Revv

Engineers who scan, not just scanner operators

  • We design around scans

Mid-engine C10, solid-axle Tacoma, custom dashes and bumpers: our own design work starts from the scan, so we know what data a build needs.

  • Reno shop with easy drop-off

Bring the vehicle or part to Reno, where same-day scanning can be arranged, or ship parts to us.

  • Scans you can buy today

Our scan library on revv-engineering.com sells ready-made vehicle scans, so some projects skip the scanning step entirely.

FAQ

Automotive & Off-Road scanning questions

Can you 3D scan my truck for a custom build?

Yes. We can scan the whole vehicle or just the areas you're changing, such as the frame, engine bay, wheel wells or cab, and deliver a mesh, a CAD model or a complete design.

Do you already have a scan of my vehicle?

Maybe. Check the 3D scan library on revv-engineering.com for ready-made vehicle scans. If yours isn't there, we can scan it.

Does my vehicle need to be stripped before scanning?

Only the parts that hide what you need. Pull the bumper for bumper design, the bed or body for frame work, and the seats and carpet for interior and cage work.

Can you design the bumper or bracket after scanning?

Yes. We design parts in SolidWorks around the scan and deliver production-ready CAD your fabricator or manufacturer can work from.

How long will you need my vehicle?

Scanning a complete vehicle inside and out typically takes 8 to 12 hours, and a single area takes less. Ask about same-day scanning when you book a drop-off.

Can you scan a classic car for restoration parts?

Yes. Scan a surviving original part or the body itself, and we'll model reproduction parts that match it.
