Aerospace 3D scanning in your hangar or on the ramp

Aircraft parts outlive their drawings, cockpits get rebuilt around new equipment, and engines and tooling need geometry that's hard to measure by hand. We bring handheld scanners to the hangar or ramp, capture the shape and model it in SolidWorks for your engineering team. You get the data; airworthiness decisions stay with your certified organization.

The problem

What slows teams down

  • Legacy parts without drawings

Out-of-production aircraft and older fleets depend on parts whose original drawings are missing, incomplete or only on paper.

  • Complex surfaces in tight spaces

Cockpits, fairings, ducts and nacelles curve in every direction and sit where a tape measure or caliper cannot reach.

  • Aircraft and engines don't travel easily

Moving an aircraft or shipping an engine costs time and money, so the measuring has to happen where the hardware already sits.

  • Data has to stay controlled

Customer and program data come with NDAs and handling rules. You need to know who has the files and where they go.

Applications

How aerospace & aviation teams use our scans

  • MRO and legacy part reverse engineering

Scan a worn, damaged or out-of-production part and get a CAD model your engineering team can use for repair or replacement through its own approval process.

  • Cockpit and interior retrofits

We scanned a stripped amphibian aircraft cockpit and instrument panel on an airport ramp. A scan like that is the starting point for new panels, consoles and equipment mounts that fit the real structure.

  • Engine and component documentation

A jet engine scanned on its transport stand gives a complete external model for documentation, clearance studies, covers and handling equipment.

  • Tooling and ground-support equipment

Design stands, cradles, fixtures and covers against the scanned shape of the hardware they hold, so they match the real part instead of a drawing.

  • Vintage aircraft restoration

Recreate fairings, trim, brackets and panels that can no longer be bought, using a surviving original or the airframe itself as the reference.

  • As-built records of modifications

Capture a modification or installation as built, so your engineering records and future work start from accurate geometry.

Why Revv

Engineers who scan, not just scanner operators

  • We come to the aircraft

Portable scanners in hard cases, set up beside the aircraft or engine. We have worked from the top of a wing on an open ramp.

  • CAD from a mechanical engineer

Models are built in SolidWorks under the direction of a mechanical engineer (B.S., University of Nevada, Reno) and delivered as STEP, Parasolid (X_T) or IGES.

  • Clear about our role

We work under your NDA and data rules and supply geometry. We don't hold AS9100, ITAR registration or FAA repair station certificates, and we say so up front.

FAQ

Aerospace & Aviation scanning questions

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes. We work under your NDA and follow your requirements for how files are transferred, stored and deleted.

Are you AS9100 certified or ITAR registered?

No. We don't hold AS9100 certification, ITAR registration or an FAA repair station certificate. If your program requires them, tell us early so we can decide together whether our work fits your process.

Can a 3D scan be used to get an aircraft part approved?

A scan and CAD model supply accurate geometry for your engineering work. Approval and airworthiness decisions stay with your certified organization and its approval process.

Can you scan in our hangar or on the ramp?

Yes. Our handheld scanners travel in hard cases, and we've scanned an aircraft cockpit on an open airport ramp. Tell us about escort, badge and FOD rules before the visit.

Can you reverse engineer an aircraft part with no drawings?

Yes. We scan the part, model it in SolidWorks and deliver STEP, X_T or IGES, with notes on any worn or damaged areas we modeled back to their intended shape.

Can you 3D scan a jet engine?

Yes. We've scanned a jet engine without taking it off its stand, working with the scanner and a laptop cart alongside.
